After previewing its Honda Civic Type R Group A and Group B body kits, Mugen has unveiled new images of the latter kit, which enhances the hot hatchback’s styling with sporty accessories. Many critics have said the new Type R is a bit too understated, but with the Mugen upgrades, it has the looks to match its performance capabilities.

Aside from the aesthetic enhancements, Mugen claims the new parts contribute to a 25% increase in downforce compared to the standard components. The front diffuser, painted in black, contributes to the aerodynamic improvements and lends the CTR a 'chiseled jaw' look. The Group B kit is even more aggressive; we expect images to be revealed in the coming months.

The 2024 Honda Civic Type R is a high-performance hatchback that has garnered acclaim for its exceptional handling, powerful engine, and distinctive styling. Its turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine delivers a robust 315 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque, making it capable of exhilarating acceleration. Paired with a six-speed manual transmission, the Type R offers a truly engaging driving experience. The Type R's suspension system is meticulously tuned for maximum performance, featuring adjustable dampers and a limited-slip differential. This combination ensures precise handling and exceptional stability, even in demanding driving conditions. The car's striking exterior includes aggressive bodywork, a large rear wing, and 19-inch alloy wheels, further emphasizing its sporty and dynamic character.Inside, the Type R offers a comfortable and supportive driving environment with sport seats designed to keep the driver and passengers secure and comfortable during spirited driving. The modern infotainment system provides a range of features, including navigation, audio, and connectivity options. The overall cabin design is focused on driver-centric ergonomics, with controls and instruments positioned for easy access and intuitive operation.

Moving along the side of the vehicle, we can see 19-inch forged aluminum FR10 alloys. Co-developed with BBS, the wheels are about 22 lbs lighter than the standard wheels. Racing nuts and lock nuts made from high-strength chrome-molybdenum steel also provide a racier look.

The side skirts work beautifully with the front splitter. With the rear diffuser, Mugen says the vehicle appears lower and wider than a stock Civic Type R, adding a racecar-like style. A large exhaust replaces the three tips found on the standard car. All the lower trim elements are finished in a high gloss black, contrasting nicely with the Rallye Red paintwork.

Round back, there's a variable rear wing that Mugen says was developed through CFD analysis and track testing. The wing uses a dry carbon fiber end plate that saves weight. Aside from this, Mugen also has LED taillights that look more contemporary than the standard items. The CTR already handles beautifully, but performance dampers improve steering stability and minimize vibration. The ride quality is improved, too.

The classic hot hatch recipe has been perfected in the Type R.

Inside, the Civic Type R gets carbon fiber center console inlays, an Alcantara-trimmed gear knob, and new MS-C bucket seats for the front occupants. Both are trimmed in a grippy mesh fabric that improves support and aids weight reduction. Customers can also opt for Mugen sports mats, scuff plates, and door protectors. The tuner adds that a sports exhaust system and sports steering wheel are also in the works. Sadly, no pricing has been provided, but Honda Civic Type R owners are probably frothing at the mouth at this point.
